Function

The dies of a caliper (power tong) match the outer diameter of the tubing and provide clamping force through a toothed design, enabling the power tong to rotate the tubing for make-up and break-out operations.

Structural Features

The tong head adopts an advanced clamping mechanism, allowing one size of dies to clamp two adjacent sizes of tubing or couplings.

Arc-surface and arc-tooth composite dies: the tooth surface is designed as an arc tooth surface with a radius equivalent to that of the drilling tubular string, ensuring effective engagement between the two.
Dies are usually made of high-wear-resistant materials, such as high manganese steel and high chromium alloy, to withstand high wear during drilling operations.
